The HOTEL CONVENTO DEL GIRALDO **** (XVIIth C.), located in the most stately street of the Old Quarter of Cuenca a few meters away from the Cathedral and the Main Square, is meant to become the hotel of reference of the city of Cuenca.
It belongs to the hotel group “3C - Cuenca Con Carácter”, which intention is to recover the historic heritage of the city by turning old buildings into singular hotels. The same group leads the hotels CUEVA DEL FRAILE*** (XVIth C.) and LEONOR DE AQUITANIA*** (XVIIIth C.).
The name of the Hotel CONVENTO DEL GIRALDO **** is due to the bell tower that belonged to the Cathedral in the past. It is an amazing blazoned building from the XVIIth century, built by the Martinez Kleiser Family.
In the mid last century, it became the “Casa Fundacional de la Congregación de las Madres Celadoras” – Founding House of the Attendant Mothers Congregation. Nowadays, and after intensive restoration works, the building shows all its splendour. It brings a particular atmosphere, born from the perfect combination between a modern decoration and some amazing architectural elements recovered from the old building, i.e. a medieval fountain, a well or some coffered ceilings.
Each one of its 34 rooms has its own charm, combining new technologies and comfort with an exquisite decoration.
Just as a matter of interest, the pictorial works of “Inés de Borbón y Orleans” are hanging on the walls of the Hotel, and can be purchased by our guests.
